Imago Relationship Therapy

Imago Relationship Therapy is based on the best-seller, “Getting The Love You Want”, by Harville Hendrix, PhD, who co-founded Imago Relationships International together with his partner, Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD. Imago Relationship Therapy is a theory and therapy for committed partners who want to find a lasting mature love. Often referred to as the “Language of Love”, Imago Therapy creates a safe environment for partners to reconnect to the love, caring, and passion they once had in their relationship.

Imago Relationship Therapy is a form of couples counseling that suggests that your marriage is therapy. You become healed not by me, the counselor, but by the relationship itself. In Imago Therapy couples learn specific skills to improve communication, decrease reactivity, rekindle passion and move from having an unconscious relationship to a healthy conscious one. Usually couple sessions are 1.5 hours in length but longer sessions can be scheduled upon request.

Imago Workshops

ImagoConnects is a three hour program introducing the Imago Dialogue as a way to work through the power struggle in relationships. Participants will learn the importance of appreciation and how each partner responds differently to conflict.

Start Right, Stay Connected is a day long premarital workshop that provides participants with the tools necessary to develop and sustain a lasting and loving partnership.

Discernment Counseling

Discernment counseling is short term process designed to help couples have greater clarity and confidence in their decision about their relationship. It is used when one partner is “leaning out” of the relationship and considering separation or divorce, while the other partner wants to stay in the relationship. The process helps the couple to look at their three options; to keep going as is, to make the decision to separate/divorce or to commit to couples therapy for six months. The first session is two hours in length, followed by two to four sessions that are 90 minutes in length.
